Steve first qualified as a coach in 2002 and went on to gain level 2 coaching status in 2004. He was lucky enough to train at Warwickshire County Cricket Club and he coached juniors at Marsten Green Cricket Club in Birmingham.

When he relocated back to the North East, he established junior cricket at Percy Main after many years without a junior section. In the late 2000s he took time away from coaching due to family commitments but he has now reactivated his qualifications, and is excited at the prospect of passing on his knowledge and experience to the all the young players at the club. As a batsman, Steve is particularly keen to help young players develop the technical batting skills and mental focus that is needed to succeed in the game.
